1/28/2021
Are you a dancer? What style is your favorite: ballroom, ballet, swing, breakdancing, or something else? Dancing is an expression of self; an artistic display of one’s emotions without using words. Dancing is also a useful analogy for moving through life. (Gracefully, we hope!) Every aspect of movement is connected to your posture and therefore your back. S2E2 - Sit Up Straight

1/14/2021
It’s the second week in 2021, are you back to normal yet? Of course not!! But at least I hope you are preparing yourself to be. This week’s podcast is about teaching you to apply the posture techniques taught in our YouTube video last week titled “Fix Your Posture” (link to channel below for other videos too) so that you can focus better and be more efficient while you work, drive, or watch TV. (I don’t imagine that last one requires much effort though...LOL) Those aches and pains you have are not going away anytime soon either if your posture isn’t any good. So, follow the easy exercise in this podcast, keep practicing it, and you will be prepared for even more sitting (Yay! Not…), at least until this pandemic has passed. Thanks for listening to the #GateofLifepodcast by #mymetromedicine! Your #1 source for living a better life every single day. Have an blessed day! ASK THE EXPERT---Mina Larson (CEO, NCCAOM - Part 2)

5/26/2020
In Episode #11, we complete part two of our interview with Mina Larson, CEO of the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Washington, DC. (www.nccaom.org) According to their website, the “NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification.” In our interview with Mina, we asked questions about licensing, their national board exams, and questions that came directly from Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine students who participated in our survey. We are grateful to both Mina and the NCCAOM for allowing this special opportunity to look closely at what the organization is doing behind the scenes to support our growing profession. Thank you for listening! This new CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN series is designed to bring you a guiding voice during this uncertain time of the #coronavirus #pandemic. In this first episode, we focus on the one thing we all need right now; being a good leader. What kind of leader are you being right now in your home, in your workplace, and in your community? Are you driven by fear or have you stepped forward courageously and taken on the burden that others are not willing to? We must all remain focused and have a clear vision of caring for ourselves and the people around us. In this new series, I start by challenging you to become a leader for the people around you. Let us all lead by example, not by our emotions. If we can all learn to do this, then I am confident we will get through this pandemic faster and perhaps find ourselves stronger than we ever thought we could become. Ep64 - Did You Miss Your Calling in Life?

12/19/2019
Did you miss your calling? Do you feel you should be living a different life, or even worse, COULD BE living a different life that your “stupid self” chose not to or didn’t take advantage of in the past? All of us are presented with opportunities in life that may allow for us to live the life we dream of, but we may not have our eyes open wide enough to recognize the opportunities before us. Regardless of you might have missed, that calling is gone, and in this podcast, I share with you WHY it is not important whether you “missed your calling” or not. For the title of this podcast is a serious question we should all ask ourselves. So, listen closely if you know what I mean! Thank you for listening to The Justin Flinner Podcast! Ep63 - What Do You Treat First: EXCESS or DEFICIENCY?

11/16/2019
Acupuncturists tend to focus on treating deficiency (or weaknesses) in their patients instead of excess. In this podcast, I describe the difference and break down the thinking of why you should focus on one versus the other. It is important for us to understand why an illness is taking place versus what exactly the patient presents with. Another idea that relates to this is treating the root cause rather than trying to “fix” the patient by tending to their current signs and symptoms. Try this new approach and let me know your results! I bet you’ll be surprised! Thank you for listening to The Justin Flinner Podcast! ASK THE EXPERT---Mina Larson (CEO, NCCAOM – Part 1)

11/4/2019
In this audio version of the recent ASK THE EXPERT show, we interviewed Mina Larson, CEO of the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Washington, DC. (www.nccaom.org) According to their website, the “NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification.” In our interview with Mina, we asked her questions about the role of NCCAOM, their reason for moving back to DC from Jacksonville, FL and what they plan to achieve, as well as what the organization does for licensed acupuncturists. We are grateful to both Mina and the NCCAOM for allowing this special opportunity to look closely at what the organization is doing behind the scenes to support our growing profession. Stay tuned for part two of this interview in the months ahead!
