2022 West Coast Road Trip

3/2/2022
Today marks the begining of a journey I've been planning for years. A road trip that spans both coasts, taking me from Charlotte, NC to Los Angeles and back. I pan on seeing as much of the country as I can, meeting new people, connecting with old friends, eating new foods and creating unforgettable memoriers. Here's a few reasons why I'm doing it.

Stop AAPI Hate, Unite Against White Supremacy

3/23/2021
With the killings of eight people in Atlanta (six of whom were Asian women) fresh on my mind, I speak about my mixed-race ethnicity, how I've been complicit in erasing my own culture, and how invisibility has harmed Asian culture in America. I end by promising myself to always be proud of my heritage, and by giving a call to unify all people against the terror of white supremacy and violence.

The American Dream

11/3/2020
Today is Election Day 2020, and what better time to talk about what the American dream means to me? I spend a few minutes talking about what the promise of America is as I see it, and how my family's roots in immigration and education were able to manifest something greater than what they had before.

I Can See

10/26/2020
It's not everyday you can say you did something truly life changing. However, that's exactly what I did on Thursday, October 22, 2020. After living with severe nearsightedness for most of my life, I had a procedure done that was able to correct that disability. No, it wasn't LASIK. It was Toric ICL, or an implantable contact lens. Sound crazy? It really kind of is. Take a listen to today's episode to find out more about what it was and what my vision means to me.

Bernadette Joy and Living a Debt Free Lifestyle

8/14/2020
Money is not a simple or comfortable subject to talk about. In fact, even those of us best positioned to talk about money have a hard time discussing it with those we are closest with. If left unchecked, money problems can rip whole families and businesses apart. Bernadette Joy didn't let that happen to her when she accumulated $72K in grad school debt in 2016. She and her husband AJ got on a plan, stuck to it relentlessly, and paid off the debt less than two years later. Today, they own their house and a rental property outright, and live completely debt free. In today's episode of The Goh Show, I talk to Bernadette about why the debt free life is what she preaches, how she used a podcast to tell her story, and what's next for her as an entrepreneur. Colleen Odegaard of the Wake Up To Your Life Podcast

7/31/2020
Many of you here in the Charlotte area are probably familiar with Colleen Odegaard, a longtime TV personality with WCNC, and co-host of Charlotte Today. I got to meet Colleen in 2017 on the set at WCNC, and a few years later she approached my about creating a podcast. Fast forward to today, and Colleen's podcast, Wake Up To Your Life, is several episodes deep and already gaining a strong following. On today's episode of the Goh Show, I talk to Colleen about Wake Up To Your Life, her career in TV, her background growing up in an Asian household in San Jose, and even something about her that I only found out recently that I was kind of surprised by. A Conversation with DeMarco Blair, Justin LaFrancois and Shelley Rozier

6/8/2020
If you've been watching Queen City Nerve's tireless coverage of the Black Lives Matter protests here in Charlotte, you've seen a lot of memorable moments unfold in front of your eyes. One moment in particular stood out to many. Thursday night, after a stand off with police, Justin LaFrancois,(QC Nerve Publisher and live streaming journalist) had a long conversation with a gentleman named DeMarco Blair. Blair, who had been out marching all week, told Justin that he never had a white friend, and that the protests helped him discover a new part of the community that appreciated him. Later, a woman named Shelley appeared on the live stream and embraced DeMarco, giving him funds and making instant friends on the spot. This moment has certainly been one of the brightest moments of the protest thus far. On today's episode of The Goh Show, I sit down with the three of them for a conversation about the events of that evening, how our environment shapes race, and what we can do moving forward. Follow DeMarco Blair on Instagram at @blairfamilystrong_89.

Sounds of Protest and Reconciliation

6/5/2020
After seven straight days of protests, the emotions that have been running high since the deaths of George Floyd, Brianna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery are as powerful as ever. I took time to join the protests over the past week to show my support, as well as document what I saw and heard. In today's episode of The Goh Show, I share a few observations I had from my time in the streets, as well as a few sounds that paint the picture of what was happening. I also talk about my own reconciliation with racism, examining my past actions and how I approach moving forward.

George Floyd and Cancel the RNC

5/29/2020
Today's episode is not what I had planned on producing, but with everything going on, I had to get a few things off my chest. First, my thoughts on the murder of George Floyd. Second, a renewed call to cancel the RNC in Charlotte. Third, a few thoughts about how everyone - including those who benefit from privilege - can contribute to breaking the systems of violence.

Ashley Langston Talks Fashion, Family and Eikeon

5/22/2020
A few months before coronavirus turned the world upside down, I got connected with Ashley Langston, a fashion designer, entrepreneur and member of the US Army. She asked me to model for her line of men's neckwear, Eikeon. This line of bow ties and pocket squares was meant to represent men in her family who had passed away, so I was honored to be a part of the shoot. You can check out the bow ties (and the photos) at iameikeon.com. Check out the website while you listen to Ashley talk about fashion, design, family and more in today's episode.
