Toby Harnden join us to discuss courage and how that's led him through a life that could very well be out of one of his books. He also has a unique ability to tell the stories that need to be told for us to humanize and empathize with events that seem completely disconnected from our own realities. This was a great one! Toby is the author of First Casualty: The Untold Story of the CIA Mission to Avenge 9/11 and is a winner of the Orwell Prize for Books. He’s also a former foreign correspondent for the Sunday Times of London and the Daily Telegraph where he specialized in terrorism and war.

Tony Leonardini joins us to discuss his adventures which traverse two unique areas: winemaking and woodland firefighting. His perspective on pursuing unique paths is invaluable and insight into California's wildfire problem is thought provoking. Tony is the founder of Butternut Wines, which was purchased by Miller Family Wine Co in 2020.

Jason Boothroyd joins us in a big and candid discussion about Afghanistan. He shares what he learned while serving there, as well as sharing his perspective on why things went sideways at the end and what we can learn from it. Jay is a former Army Green Beret and was a member of ODA 534, which was one of the first teams into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban following September 11th. Tiziana Casciaro is an intellectual dynamo and joins us in a slightly longer, robust and impactful discussion about power, power dynamics, misunderstandings and the formula to gain power. Tiziana is a Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Rotman School of Management and the Marcel Desautels Chair in Integrative Thinking at the University of Toronto and is widely regarded as one of the world’s top organizational thinkers. She is also the co-author of Power for All: How it Really Works and Why it’s Everyone’s Business.

Sebastian Major is a teacher at the Crestwood School in Toronto, as well as the host of one of my favorite podcasts, Our Fake History. Sebastian joins us in a fun discussion on topics ranging from the importance of getting kids excited about world affairs and history, to how we can use his discovery methods to make sense of the real and fake history that we've recently lived through.

Edniesha Curry is motivating, exciting, filled with wisdom and compassion. She joins us to talk about the importance of relationships in her success, as well inclusion, which can be a weighty topic, but she speaks to it in such a approachable and actionable way. Edniesha is a former WNBA player with the Phoenix Mercury and the Los Angeles Sparks, and is currently an assistant Men’s basketball coach at the University of Maine. One interesting fact about Edniesha is that she’s currently one of only two women currently holding a full-time position as an assistant coach for any NCAA men’s Division I basketball program.

Jonny brings his high energy, no nonsense, directness to a discussion around what it takes to win as a team and how to address the challenges that the generational gap poses. Jonny played in the Major Leagues for 13 years and played for 7 different teams, winning the World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013 and then again in 2015 with the Kansas City Royals. Jonny is now a minor league coach with the Arizona Diamondbacks and recently launched the breakthrough recruiting app for amateur athletes called Signing Day Sports.

Jamal joins us to discuss how grit and innovation can be used to effectively address some of the most complex issues facing us as a society, specifically around inequity and access to essential resources. Jamal is a Senior Vice President of Customer Inclusion at Fidelity Investments, a group charged with the leading focus diversity and inclusion efforts within underrepresented communities.
