Zach recently celebrated his 35th birthday on September 30th, a milestone that brought with it a profound sense of gratitude. Through the ups and downs of life, he's discovered that divine grace has carried him through the toughest of times when he thought he might not make it. Recently, Zach has been diligently crafting more compelling and authentic content, pouring his heart and soul into his work. Mastering Resilience: Turn Loss and Pain Into Your Ultimate Source of Power

9/18/2023
In the relentless arena of life, there's one thing I know for certain: it's going to punch you square in the mouth. Adversity is not an occasional guest; it's an unwelcome companion that tags along uninvited. To navigate these turbulent waters, one must don the armor of resilience. Today, let's delve into the art of mastering resilience, the alchemical process of turning loss and pain into ultimate power. Today marks a significant milestone - the 400th episode of Underdog Empowerment. As we commemorate this episode, we are thrilled to announce that the Alpha Dog Pound is officially open for enrollment. The elite signup window is closing this Friday, and the Alpha Dog Pound Academy will be accessible for the next two weeks. Regardless of where you stand in your personal or professional journey, there's a level tailored just for you at alphadogpoundlive.com. Reflecting on my own path, I recently suffered a significant injury that taught me invaluable lessons. It was a cold September morning when I awoke at 2 or 3 a.m., my back throbbing in agony, pain shooting down my leg. This torment persisted for a week and a half until I finally sought the help of a chiropractor. It was so severe that I couldn't hit the gym or coach kids in sports. Although I'm not yet at 100%, the chiropractor's expertise has significantly improved my condition. This experience underscores two vital lessons. First, it's astonishing how much we appreciate something when it's taken away from us. Second, we are often more motivated to move away from pain than toward pleasure. In most cases, it's the threat of discomfort that propels us into action. Curiosity led me to consult GPT, and it promptly furnished me with seven reasons behind our tendency to appreciate things more when they're gone. Loss aversion tops the list; humans feel the pain of losing something more acutely than the joy of gaining something of equal value. Psychological reactance, scarcity principle, regret, memory enhancement, nostalgia, and social influence all play their part in amplifying our appreciation for what we've lost. The interplay between pain and pleasure in our motivation is a fascinating dance. When pain is absent, motivation can be elusive. However, when pain takes center stage, we become driven to fix the source of our suffering. GPT revealed some reasons behind our inclination to move away from pain rather than towards pleasure. These include evolutionary survival tactics, loss aversion, fear and anxiety, uncertainty avoidance, and the fact that painful experiences are potent teachers, shaping our mental fortitude and self-discipline. But how can we apply these insights to our lives proactively? One strategy involves tricking yourself into feeling the pain now, using negative visualization. Imagine yourself on your deathbed, contemplating a life without good health, family, or reaching your potential. Sit with that vision and allow it to permeate your thoughts. This exercise will compel you to ponder your daily decisions and where they are leading you. It will also help you cherish the present moment and the blessings it holds. As we celebrate this momentous 400th episode of Underdog Empowerment, let's remember that life's punches, though painful, are essential for our growth. Resilience is our shield, and the ability to transform loss and pain into power is our sword. Join us on this journey of self-discovery and transformation, and let's rewrite our stories together. What You’ll Learn: Why we appreciate something more after we’ve lost it. Why we’re more motivated by the avoidance of pain than the possibility of pleasure. How to implement these tactics into your life. And much more! Your First Five Years In Business with Joey YAK

9/4/2023
Joey Yak, a guest on the fifth episode of the Underdog Empowerment podcast, shares a profound journey of personal growth and self-realization that has transformed his life since then. During his first appearance on the podcast, Joey was in a modest 2-bedroom, 1-bath house, working out of a shed, and grappling with feelings of impostor syndrome. However, he now resides in a beautiful home, has a thriving business, and has emerged from the shadow of self-doubt. Joey's transformative journey begins with a realization that he doesn't have to prove himself to others; instead, he needs to prove himself to himself. Initially driven by the pursuit of money, he discovers that this path led to a loss of identity. He learns that the key to fulfillment lies in helping others and delivering value. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining this drive while finding happiness in one's current circumstances. One of the significant turning points in Joey's life was his battle with addiction to Adderall and alcohol. He openly shares that cannabis played a pivotal role in helping him overcome the need for Adderall. While he acknowledges the stigma surrounding it, he believes in normalizing its use as a useful medication. Cannabis sparks his creativity and enhances his overall happiness, and he no longer feels guilty about its consumption. Joey admits that he's not an operator in business because he lacks passion for it. He underscores the importance of pursuing what you love right from the start, rather than chasing easy, fast money with the intention of later transitioning to your true passion. This realization has led him to align his efforts with his passions, ultimately achieving greater satisfaction. Joey offers valuable advice on building a reputation beyond one's local area before returning to the local market. He believes that this approach can significantly boost one's credibility and opportunities. As he discusses his daily routine, Joey emphasizes the importance of walking to clear his mind, eating clean to avoid binging, and taking charge of his mornings. These practices significantly impact his mood and overall well-being. One of the key lessons Joey imparts is the importance of not letting fear of letting go of a team hold you back. Procrastinating such decisions can be detrimental, and he encourages a focus on "Return on Energy" rather than solely on Return on Investment. Joey's career shift centers on offering creative content at an affordable rate through his platform, "Get Attention STL." He coaches individuals, develops concepts, and creates content to help clients gain attention and expand their reach. When asked about the advice he would give himself if starting over with nothing but knowledge and wisdom gained through experiences, Joey emphasizes the importance of focusing on what truly fulfills you and going all-in on that passion. He advises building deep relationships with clients, prioritizing quality over quantity, and investing in meaningful connections. In conclusion, Joey Yak's journey is a testament to the power of self-discovery and alignment with one's true passions. His story reminds us that happiness and success come when we prioritize personal fulfillment, help others, and stay true to ourselves, regardless of external pressures or expectations. Joey's experiences offer valuable insights for anyone seeking a path to greater fulfillment and purpose in life. What You’ll Learn: Why chasing the money will leave you broke. 3 things people do when they’re getting burnt out. Why you should focus on quality over quantity. And much more! Building Wealth Through RV Park Investing with Jason Lafferty

8/28/2023
Jason Lafferty's journey into the world of RV real estate is a testament to his unwavering entrepreneurial spirit and determination to carve his own path. From a young age, he was driven by the desire to avoid traditional employment and pursue ventures that would set him apart. At the age of 21, he took his first step into the business world by establishing a transport company. This marked the beginning of a series of ventures that would eventually lead him to the realm of real estate. A significant portion of Lafferty's transport business involved hauling RVs, providing him with exposure to the world of recreational vehicles. Fond memories of his childhood visits to RV parks ignited his interest in the industry. It was during a camping trip with his girlfriend that the spark was truly ignited. As they counted RV park spaces and calculated potential earnings, the idea of owning an RV park took root in his mind. Fueled by this vision, he embarked on a journey of extensive research and planning. Upon returning home, Lafferty delved into in-depth research on the fundamental aspects of establishing an RV park. He meticulously studied the requirements for amenities such as electricity, water, roads, and septic systems. In addition, he analyzed existing RV parks to gain insights into pricing strategies and other operational details. Armed with a solid foundation of knowledge, he began exploring various funding options for his ambitious project. This led him to formulate a comprehensive business plan that outlined his vision and strategies. However, Lafferty's path was far from smooth. Despite his thorough preparation, he encountered numerous obstacles on his road to success. He approached over 40 bankers in pursuit of financing, only to face repeated rejections. Undeterred, he displayed remarkable perseverance and continued his quest. Finally, a local bank recognized his dedication and potential, granting him the approval he needed. This breakthrough marked a turning point in his journey, and he wasted no time in moving forward. Closing April 17th, the construction of his RV park is now 90% complete—a testament to Lafferty's commitment and ability to overcome challenges. As the park neared its completion, Lafferty's reputation began to spread. People started reaching out to him for guidance and assistance in realizing their own dreams of opening RV parks. This growing interest prompted Lafferty to consider consolidating his knowledge and experiences into a consulting business, where he could offer invaluable insights to aspiring entrepreneurs. Not content with stopping at one successful venture, Lafferty's ambitions expanded further. He secured a second RV park location situated near a casino, with the support of an investor. In this partnership, Lafferty's role involves extensive hands-on work, while his investor provides financial backing. This collaboration allows him to retain 40% equity in the endeavor—a testament to his ability to forge strategic partnerships and negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements. When reflecting on his journey and considering what advice he would give to himself if starting over with just wisdom and knowledge, Lafferty emphasizes the importance of resourcefulness and self-awareness. He underscores the value of identifying one's strengths and leveraging them to their full potential. Lafferty's story exemplifies the power of persistence, adaptability, and the unwavering pursuit of one's dreams. From transport companies to RV parks, his journey showcases the remarkable transformation that can occur when passion meets strategic planning and unwavering determination. Wealth Building and Lifestyle Design With Jeff Smith

8/21/2023
Meet Jeff Smith, a man who has cracked the code to a fulfilling and purpose-driven life, both in business and family. Every year around Thanksgiving, Jeff and his wife engage in a unique tradition – they embark on a retreat to reflect on the past year and plan for the one ahead. This ritual isn't just about setting goals; it's a holistic evaluation that extends to their business ventures, physical well-being, family dynamics, and more. For them, it's about shedding the superficial and ego-driven pursuits that consume time without truly enriching their lives. Jeff is a firm believer in being an integral part of his children's lives while they are still young. He recognizes that this season of life is precious and irreplaceable. As the founder of a mastermind group for men, Jeff empowers them to achieve financial success without compromising their roles as strong husbands and fathers. He challenges the pervasive hustle-and-grind culture, asserting that it often compensates for deeper emotional needs. For Jeff, success doesn't require sacrificing family bonds and personal well-being. Rooted in the residential real estate arena, Jeff's journey began when he bought his first house at the age of 24 with minimal down payment. He practiced a strategy known as "home hacking," a creative approach where he lived in a property for a year, then moved into a new one while renting out the previous property. This ingenious method allowed him to leverage equity and generate cash flow. His insight extends to the world of short-term rentals; he understands that it's not just about offering a place to stay but providing unique experiences that stand out even in a crowded market. Jeff is a big fan of STR Insights, a platform that facilitates tailored searches for exceptional short-term rental experiences. Beyond his business acumen, Jeff's passion for adventure shines through. He indulges in lengthy RV trips, a journey where meticulous planning ensures he stays connected to his work while immersing himself in the marvels of the world. His commitment to unconventional living has influenced his children's education as well; they are homeschooled and have accompanied Jeff on various journeys, proving that learning and growth can thrive outside the confines of traditional classrooms. If Jeff were to start anew armed only with the wisdom he has gained over the years, his first piece of advice would be to dive headfirst into real estate. His philosophy of delivering value without expecting immediate returns has shaped his journey, whether he's the owner or not. His ethos of ownership transcends property, embodying a mindset that impacts every aspect of his life. In a world where societal pressures often drive individuals to pursue success at the expense of their well-being and relationships, Jeff Smith stands as a beacon of balance and intentionality. He exemplifies that changing the world starts at home, with deliberate choices that honor family, self-care, and personal growth. Jeff's story reminds us that success is not just measured in financial gains, but in the richness of experiences, the strength of relationships, and the meaningful contributions we make to the lives of those around us. 8/7/2023
Zoon Nguyen's life journey is nothing short of remarkable, shaped by courage, determination, and a deep sense of purpose. Born in Vietnam, he found his way to the United States at a young age, thanks to his grandfather's service during the Vietnam War. The transition to a new country wasn't easy, but Zoon was fortunate to have a supportive community around him that helped him adapt and thrive. Growing up, Zoon's father worked tirelessly to provide for the family, leaving little time for emotional connections. This led Zoon to seek a path where he could learn valuable life lessons and become a strong, self-reliant individual. He saw the military as the perfect opportunity to do just that and enlisted in the Navy along with his friends after high school. After serving his country with pride and honor, Zoon ventured into different career paths, starting with car sales before realizing his passion for technology and starting his own IT business. But destiny had more in store for him. As he pursued his newfound interest in photography and videography, Zoon discovered a way to channel his creativity and passion into a force for good. In 2017, Zoon founded the New Legacy brand, pledging to donate a portion of every sale to Feeding America. The venture enabled him to provide 17,000 meals to those in need, but he didn't stop there. Inspired by the desire to make an even greater impact, Zoon envisioned an audacious goal - raising enough funds to provide one million meals. This ambitious undertaking motivated him to push his limits, leading to the decision to run from California to New York, a dream inspired by the iconic character Forrest Gump. The New Legacy run is set to begin on March 1st, 2024, covering approximately 20 miles a day over 150 days. It's not just a solo endeavor; Zoon invites the world to join him, be it as sponsors, running partners, or simply supporters. He understands the power of a united effort and how a team environment can propel individuals to achieve greater heights. For Zoon, life's journey has been an energy transfer, continuously giving and receiving inspiration from the people around him. His experiences have taught him the value of seizing opportunities, being unafraid to take risks, and embracing a fearless mindset. If he were to offer advice to his younger self, it would be to shake hands and put himself out there, for in connecting with others lies the potential for transformative growth. Having experienced heartache with the end of a significant relationship, Zoon used his pain as fuel to become better and help others. He believes that courage comes from confronting fear head-on and embracing the possibilities that unfold when we shed self-doubt. Raised in a broken home where his mother struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, and his parents' split left him feeling uprooted at the tender age of 12, Paul's life seemed destined for a rocky path. Moving to a neighborhood where his family was one of the few white households made him a target for bullying, pushing him towards using anger and violence as a means of self-defense. This led him down a dark road, getting involved with drugs at just 15 to fit in with his peers. Before long, Paul found himself entangled in a cycle of incarceration, homelessness and stays in mental institutions. By the age of 18, he was incarcerated in an adult jail, and later, he ended up in prison due to his involvement with methamphetamine and firearms. It was during those 19 months behind bars that he had an awakening. Paul realized he wanted more from life and decided to change his path upon release. However, old habits die hard, and despite his newfound determination, he fell back into selling and using drugs after some time outside prison walls. Facing a daunting sentence of 27 years, he ultimately received a 10-year sentence. The first nine years were a struggle, but Paul refused to accept that as his fate. He emerged from the fog of his past and recognized the need for a true transformation. As a two-strike criminal with a plan to return to the familiar when in trouble, Paul had an epiphany—he couldn't let that be his destiny. Seeking guidance, he approached an inmate who had managed to stay on the straight and narrow. This encounter proved to be a turning point, and on August 25th, 2018, Paul was released from prison, determined to change his life forever. Paul embarked on a mission to reinvent himself, taking small, consistent steps toward a brighter future. However, healing past traumas was essential for his growth. He discovered that showing emotion wasn't a sign of weakness but a path to healing and personal growth. Setting his sights on a career in fitness training, Paul took a bold step and opened his own facility. But this newfound success came at a cost—he overworked himself, neglected his health, and spiraled into depression. Recognizing that he needed help to find a balance, he made the crucial decision to seek guidance from another mentor. Through this mentorship, he learned the importance of being a successful business owner without being consumed by the business itself. Looking back on his journey, Paul reflects on the wisdom he has gained through his experiences. If he had the chance to start over with nothing but the knowledge he's acquired, his first piece of advice to his younger self would be to invest in a mentor. He learned that fear should never stand in the way of seeking help from those who have already achieved what he aspired to do. Today, Paul Casey stands as a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the willingness to change. From a troubled past and a life teetering on the brink of self-destruction, he has crafted a no-excuses lifestyle that empowers him and inspires those around him. By embracing his past and harnessing the lessons it taught him, Paul is not only shaping his own future but also the lives of others he touches through his fitness journey.
