September of 1973, an unknown assailant walked into the Shelf Store in Jenkintown and shot Horace Spindler in the back of the head as he sat at his desk. The 50th anniversary of Horace’s death has passed, and the murder still remains unsolved. Who killed Horace Spindler and why?

Fawn Marie Mountain lived a tragic life. Following the stillborn death of her daughter, Kaydin, she seemed to be a magnet for abusive relationships, one of which resulted in two children that she would eventually lose to the foster care system. A new relationship in 2009 seemed to turn her luck around, and then around again. Fawn disappeared November 25, 2012 and has not been seen or heard from since. Did Fawn finally escape her tragic life and start anew, or did this latest relationship bring about even more tragedy?

After visiting her mother in a Scranton hospital, Michelle Jolene Lakey began her walk home with the intent of returning to visit her mother again before spending the night at her friend's house. One block from her home, witnesses saw her speaking with someone in a yellow car, which she then got in. Michelle never made it home and has not been seen or heard from since. Did Michelle fall victim to the same suspect, making her one of the Scranton 5?

July 1923 a string of gruesome murders began in the Ellwood City and West Pittsburg areas of western PA, near the Ohio-PA border. The suspect is believed to have dismembered and decapitated at least 15 people, leaving their bodies in a swamp-like area that runs from New Castle to Ellwood City. The area was referred to as Murder Swamp, these killings referred to as the Swamp Murders and they remain unsolved 100 years later.

This week is a double episode covering the cases of Dawn Mozino and Barry Douglas. Dawn left work to head to soccer practice for the Special Olympics. When she didn't arrive her family and authorities spring into action. Could her co-worker who was previously a convicted murderer to blame? Now, over three decades later we are still wondering.... What happened to Dawn Marie Mozino? Barry Douglas was out for a stroll on July 3, 1988. He was walking along a main road towards Wellsboro chatting up acquaintances as he walked on by. In those days conversations weren’t as accessible as they are now. Just a touch away. Walking around and meeting up with friends was not that uncommon back then so no one really thought much of this. Until after that day he wasn’t seen or heard from again. At the time Barry was receiving treatment for schizophrenia. Did something sinister happen to Barry or did he fall victim to the symptoms of schizophrenia???

A resident Mount Pocono, PA, David Allen Gross was a loving son and a hard-working man who loved the outdoors. David turned 21 on August 2nd and threw himself a big birthday party on August 6th on his parents' 173-acre property. In the early hours of August 11th, David was found murdered in the back of his own car, over 20 miles from his home.

Back in the day mental health was not widely acknowledged. If treatment was provided it would typically be harsh, cruel, and ineffective. The lack of knowledge, correct treatment, and the negative connotations of mental illness could have potentially been the reason behind the disappearance of Andrea Jean Coyle. She struggled with mental illness and in 1971 she experienced a breakdown. The hospital she stayed at provided a course of electroconvulsive therapy. According to Andrea’s family she was never the same after. For years her mental health was teetering between attempting suicide, disappearing for months on end, and making poor choices. December 19, 1998 was the last time her family has seen or heard from her.

In December of 1978, 22 year-old Joanne Williams disappeared under mysterious circumstances from her hometown of Scranton, PA. Her disappearance would lead investigators to wonder... could Scranton have a serial killer?

In August of 1982, 19 year old, mother of one, Shelley Luty said goodbye to her coworkers at a diner in Upper Darby, PA. Nothing would have alerted co-workers that this was the last time they would ever see Shelley. Leads dried up quickly, but within a few years police began to wonder if Shelley had been the victim of a potential serial killer in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. Mary Ann Bagenstose was a 25-year old devoted mother living in Lancaster County and working as a nurse’s aide. On June 5, 1984, Mary Ann informed her mother of plans to go car shopping with her estranged husband, Jere. While waiting for Jere to return from the park with their son Jeremy, Mary Ann presumably walked to Turkey Hill, but never arrived and has not been heard from since.

Fort Mifflin, originally called Fort Island Battery and also known as Mud Island Fort, was built in 1772 by the British to protect Philadelphia. At the start of the Revolutionary War, the Americans claimed the fort and completed construction. It is located near the Philadelphia International Airport. It is one of the only remaining revolutionary war battlefields intact, which was also utilized during the Civil War, WW1 and WW2. It is also considered one of the most terrifying places in Pennsylvania.
