I'm taking a break

3/20/2022
Hey friends! Thanks so much for being part of this project. #SundayAintScary has meant a lot to me over the past 6 months. When I published my first episode in October of 2021, I knew I wanted to publish at least 20 episodes and then see if I felt like continuing after. While the number was somewhat arbitrary, I knew that getting to 20 episodes is a feat and I went 20/22 in the past 22 weeks. Now that I'm here, I feel honored and blessed to have so many people listen and send me messages of support and that my content resonated with them. I post this with a subliminal feeling of guilt knowing those that really enjoyed it won't be hearing new episodes anytime soon. But let me say this, guilt is a terrible way to make a decision! I'm taking a break to put the primary focus and energy on my book and Kickstarter, and will be traveling the next 4 months to Mexico, Croatia, Turkey, and Bulgaria. I don't want this podcast to be a "checkbox." If I'm going to do it, I want it to be fully aligned to me, and right now it feels like something I need to drop to make space in my life for other things. I'm lucky to have multiple "right" decisions here, but that also makes it tough to know what to cut. I hope you can use motivation from this episode to cut something that's not aligned to your purpose at the moment. And until next time, keep wandering, you're not lost. [19] A Month Long Challenge You Can Steal From Me to Become the Best Version of Yourself

3/6/2022
I started a challenge in March with 8 friends! Feel free to steal it from me below: The Structure The challenge is a $31 USD wager. Each dollar represents ONE day in March (hence $31). One dollar for each day. You can adapt this wager however you want, obviously. The amount of money is less important than the symbol of commitment it provides. The goal is to retain your bet. To retain your dollar for the day, you MUST accomplish 2 things on that day: Losing Your Bet If either of these doesn’t happen (i.e. you don’t text the group, even if you complete your habits, or you don’t complete your habits and text the group), you lose $1 that day. If you miss multiple days in a row, your losses start to double. So on the 2nd day of you missing your habits or texting (or both), you lose $2 instead of $1. And so on (e.g. if you miss 4 days in a row, you lose $8). If you miss enough days in a row, you’ll end up owing money! How to Play Everyone chooses something they either want to ADD or SUBTRACT from their current everyday routines in these areas of life for the entire month. These should be challenging yet attainable in your daily life. Adding something means you don’t currently do it consistently. Subtracting something means you do it all the time and want to live without it: 1. Physical Movement (Exercise) 2. Mental (Emotional/Spiritual) 3. Work (Business/Job) 4. Nutrition (Substance/Food) 5. Wild Card (Anything) Once you’ve chosen the routines you want to add/subtract, you’re responsible to yourself and the group to report every single day and actually do them. Again, only by completing both of those tasks (reporting + doing) allow you to retain your bet on any given day. Winning Whoever has the most money in their account when the clock strikes midnight on the first day of the next month gets ALL the money. Tie Breaks In the event of a tie, the people who tie split the pot between themselves equally. Are you going to try this challenge for yourself? See if you can get a few friends to start with you! While you can start at the beginning of the month you can really adapt the structure to fit your needs. Have fun with it. DM me on Instagram and send me a screenshot of you and your group. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [18] Be. Do. Have.

2/27/2022
To get what you want out of life, you need to first act like the person you want to BE by doing the things they would DO so you can have the things they would HAVE. What We’re Conditioned to Believe: Have: Do: Be: But... this way of thinking is counter-productive! Example: “I need to have money to be able to do this coaching program to be an entrepreneur that makes a lot of money.” But ironically, it's going to be that coaching program that helps you get to the level you want to go. The Upgraded Way to Think: Be. Do. Have. Be: Do: Have: This Requires You 2.0 Questions to Answer About You 2.0 What’s one weird thing about You 2.0 that you can always remember easily… e.g. something they wear or do that’s totally unique…Links Mentioned Matthew McConaughey SpeechThe Alter Ego Effect Book --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [17] We All Live in the Same Glass House

2/20/2022
At what lengths must we search just to find out that we're all imperfect? We live in a world in which we impact each other with everything we do, yet we find ourselves in extreme silos of division. In these silos, we create so much judgment of others that our belief systems become our identities. And I’ve been feeling like this shift is causing us to forget something very important: we all live in the same glasshouse. People inherently have this rush to throw stones at others whom don’t believe the same as they do. But when you throw stones in a glasshouse, you’re only breaking your own collective home. A society in which no one can make mistakes is a society in which no one can win. No one is mistake-free. No one is defined by one moment. True personal growth is acceptance and compassion for others in the way you’d like to be forgiven for your mistakes. It’s knowing that if a light were shown on your past in excruciating detail, there would be things you’re not proud of. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [16] Things Don't Happen for a Reason

2/6/2022
I've heard time and time again that "things happen for a reason." I disagree... Things just happen. The meaning that comes from the situation, or the "reason" is completely manufactured by the person. Two people can have the same thing happen to them and respond in completely different ways. Does that mean either of their "reasons" is less valid? No, it means that we can choose. Think about challenging times in your life. What are the opportunities that have opened up because of challenging situations? Are you able to proactively see the beauty in experiences that initially felt negative? What would you do if you could retroactively create the "reason" for anything happening in your life instead of accepting a presupposed explanation that someone else offers? The more we can accept and appreciate circumstances for what they are, the quicker we'll be able to assign our own meaning to them and do so in a way that serves us instead of digging ourselves a grave of despair. Enjoy this episode for my thoughts on this subject. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [15] Ten Habits of Highly Effective Remote Workers and Nomads

1/30/2022
Life requires you to integrate your best self into all areas because they are all connected. This means: establishing habits for health, wealth, work productivity, and relationships. Why is this important? It’s incredibly easy to negatively impact one area of life by ignoring another. BUT… the same is true inversely… It’s incredibly easy to positively impact one area of life by thriving in another. I interviewed dozens of remote workers and high-performing, "effective" nomads. [14] How to Get Universal Energy to Work in Your Favor

1/23/2022
You are the universe experiencing itself in physical form, and everything you experience is governed by energy, here's how to get it to work in your favor... After some time of feeling down, I've had a shift of energy. Being able to externalize my thoughts has helped me move on and forward. In this episode, I want to share some of my thoughts about energy... Everything, from a granular level, is made of energy. The common denominator between every interaction we have in our life, all objects, plants, humans, and animals is an exchange of energy. Since you both emit and absorb energy from everything you interact with it's a useful practice to ask yourself: It’s all of our individual responsibility. Think about what you eat, what kind of clothes you wear, the music you listen to, and the information you consume, they all make a difference. When you realize everything is connected, you give yourself an opportunity to see the big picture. You have an impact. How you choose to use your energy in these exchanges will largely determine what kind of energy you get back. The universe is a mirror and you attract the type of energy you exude. Choose wisely. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [13] This is Why You Like to Suffer

1/16/2022
"Until you make the unconscious, conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate." I’ve gone through life thinking that I know what I want. I want the good things to happen to me, and I don’t want the bad things to happen to me. But what if bad things in my life came about because I like it that way? It’s a strange concept to think about, but, what I’ve found is that pain and suffering can be addictive. Suffering is a part of the human experience and the more I tuned into how I chose to feel in specific moments, the more I realized I was choosing to suffer and stay in my suffering, but I didn’t really know why. I want to make a quick note that I’m not invalidating suffering. Again, it’s part of our experience as humans, and some of us have gone through atrocities that are unfathomable. But suffering at its root is a reaction to events that unfold. Victimization, suffering, pain, can all bring us a sense of importance and significance. As children, often it’s our crying and pain that would draw attention from others. And as we grow into adults we find other ways to bring meaning to our existence through our struggles. So, while our conscious selves don’t want the bad stuff in life, we often end up getting the opposite because of the unconscious patterns we’ve learned as a child, or through experiences in our lives that create repressed feelings and our ego finds these patterns highly addictive. What your unconscious wants, it gets. You are not who you think you are! Take a look at what you currently have in your life, and know that that’s what your unconscious wants, whether you classify it as good or bad. "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." Instead of repressing and numbing the senses of wrongness in your life — and what you think you don’t want — come to terms. Accept yourself wholly. You are a complicated being with a spectrum of desires. You don’t have to only want good things. On some level, you want bad things, whether you know it consciously or not. So think about this: What situations or patterns in your life seem to show up frequently that you think you don’t want, but you may unconsciously be bringing into your life? Give yourself permission to be shameless, and open the communication between your unconscious and conscious. This will greatly increase your individual agency and awareness. Find pleasure and acceptance knowing you have an open mind to wanting bad things, and that will help you actually choose them or not. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [12] I'm in a F******g Rut. Here's How I'm Getting Out.

I’m in a fucking rut: I’m unable to walk, I'm the heaviest I've ever been, I'm forcing my business through a transformation, I'm unhappy... and in this episode, I'm going to tell you how I'm going to get out of this. Like most *honest* humans, there have been countless times I've felt "stuck in the mud" with life. It's a sinking feeling. Like every time I try to move, I fall deeper, limiting my hope of a better situation. This has happened in business, love, and health. At the current moment, the surgery I had on my ACL is the main culprit of this feeling. Being unable to be as active as I want to be is frustrating. It doesn’t make it any less hard, but I feel I’m fortunate I'm in a headspace now where I can focus on more than just survival mode because the unbearable pain has subsided. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [10] More Isn't Better

12/26/2021
What if instead of more, our goal was "Less, but better?" I recently read a book called Essentialism, which has quickly become one of my favorites. It gives you a framework to develop your own purpose and stay focused on your goals. It is a discipline you apply each and every time you are faced with a decision about whether to say yes or whether to politely decline. The way of the Essentialist is the relentless pursuit of less but better and happens in 3 steps: Explore: Discerning the Trivial Many From the Vital FewEliminate: Cutting Out the Trivial ManyExecute: Removing Obstacles and Making Execution EffortlessA Nonessentialist approaches every trade-off by asking, "How can I do both?" Essentialists ask the tougher but ultimately more liberating question, "Which problem do I want?" An Essentialist makes trade-offs deliberately. This intentionality is important because if you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will and traditionally in our society we are punished for good behavior (saying no) and rewarded for bad behavior (saying yes). Here are some ways you can explore, eliminate, and execute on your new journey to LESS but BETTER. Mind you, this is a process, as I'm doing it, I'm evaluating decision by decision... More isn't better. Essential Intent is making one decision that will eliminate 1000 later decisions. It's getting away from majoring in minor activities. The way of the Essentialist means living by design, not by default. [9] Universal Lessons From 2 Life Changing Surgeries in 6 Months

12/12/2021
In the past 6 months, I've gone through 2 life-changing surgeries. A half year ago I had my gallbladder removed because of gallstones that threatened to infect my pancreas (which is potentially fatal), and on the 1st of December, I had an ACL reconstruction (knee). Going through these experiences has forced me to try to make sense of why after 30 years without any major surgeries, my body would require 2 of them in this short of a time span. So the purpose of this podcast is not for pity… It's nice to know people care and I appreciate the sympathy, but it’s really about the bigger picture, which is summed up by this quote:⁣ “The mind affects the cells in your body, in the same sense that what manifests in the body affects your state of mind.”⁣ In this podcast, I go through 6 lessons I've learned through this process in which I believe are universal. I went through the surgeries and learned these so you don't have to 😉 --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [7] This Qualitative Metric is Proportional to Your Quality of Life

11/25/2021
If you agree that your relationships are the most important thing in your life, it makes sense to deconstruct what makes them important and how we can improve them. When we are disconnected we mentally deteriorate and literally go insane (e.g. Tom Hanks in Castaway or prisoners who are subjected to isolation). If you agree that your relationships are the most important thing in your life, it would follow suit that the most important, granular thing in your life is the conversations you have with people every day. Think about these questions: Who are you talking to?What are you talking about? The compound effect of ALL your conversations in your life is what determines your place in the universe. The very quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of the people and conversations in it. --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [5] The Four Steps to Gain Confidence in Anything

11/14/2021
During a session a few years ago, one of my previous coaches gave me a lesson on how to gain confidence in growing my business. When he started speaking about the methodology, I felt surprised at how simple it seemed, yet it forever changed the way I think. Initiating confidence is incredibly important to achieving your potential in life. Most *real* ambitions you'll have will live outside your comfort zone. Meaning, you'll need to deal with the reality of not feeling confident while still taking action. The good thing? Knowing that confidence can be manufactured should give you, well... confidence. Since it's not 'God-given,' you can work on confidence like it's a skill. Use this framework of The 4 C's to find more confidence and ultimately achieve your goals:⠀ Step 1: Commitment⠀Commitment is the prerequisite. Most people fail because their commitment to their current situation is stronger than the one to their potential future.⠀ Step 2: Courage⠀You don't need to always know the "how." Once you commit 100% - you begin to live in a place of courage, not fear, and you build your belief systems which often become self-fulfilling prophecies.⠀ Step 3: Capacity⠀As you act courageously, your mind, body, and spirit increase in capacity. You use feedback loops to think critically and solve problems. You prove you can do more than you thought.⠀ Step 4: Confidence⠀You internalize the confidence in yourself and your ability to succeed at this level. [4] What I Learned From My Best Friend Dying

11/5/2021
A physical life was taken from us far too early... Danny, one of my closest friends, who was only 30, passed away unexpectedly just over a year ago. Being as tragic as it was, I've found myself looking for the lessons from this experience as a coping mechanism. In looking for those lessons, I may have found something even more interesting... Since my best friend died, I've been spiritually guided by him in my everyday life. What? Alan Watts says "we are the universe experiencing itself," and the beautiful part about life, from my view, is that it's cyclical and non-linear. I believe we are all part of a collective energy: simply projections of the universe from different perspectives, not bound by time or physical restrictions or limiting beliefs we choose to hold. We learn from our experiences with other humans, and that learning continues long after they're gone. Some past experiences (and trauma) have taken me so long to process, only after 10-20 years have I actually been able to internalize the lesson. But that's just life. I imagine some lessons from Danny's passing won't show themselves for time to come. Nonetheless, I feel I'm still able to consult Danny all the time about important decisions. Yes. I know this is dense. If you're still with me, keep going: Our physical body is only one representation of us, the spirit lives in memory, energy, thought, and more. Think about anyone you've ever lost... Not seeing them in person doesn't mean that they don't impact your life. It doesn't mean your projection of them won't still live in your conscious. Sometimes I'll sit and think in my head, "what would Danny tell me to do?" Here's what I learned from losing my best friend: These lessons are strongly correlated to my experiences with Ayahuasca, which I talk about in episode 1. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I hope when I pass that I have amazing friends who can take guidance from my spirit, and allow me to do so 🙏 --- The Sunday Ain't Scary podcast is the show dedicated to those addicted to living outside of their comfort zone, obsessed with designing a life of freedom, and who choose to make every day count, because they know... [3] Sobering Reflections from Quitting Booze (3+ Years Alcohol Free)

10/31/2021
In August of 2018, I stopped drinking alcohol. Over 3 years later, I'm still committed to my decision. In this podcast, I talk about my original reasoning as well as how I quit. I discuss the societal misconception about quitting alcohol that often labels you as an alcoholic, feeling deathly terrified to talk about the subject, and eventually the liberation from sharing my story. I’m constantly searching for self-actualization through this type of documentation. And, by sharing, I may also help someone else going through the same thing. For anyone considering reducing their consumption, quitting, or sharing these ideas with a friend or family member, please check out the article I wrote in the links section below for an even more comprehensive take on this topic. And, if you're really struggling with addiction or alcoholism, remember to contact a professional to help (American Addiction Center Hotline below). [2] How to Not Think Everyone's an Asshole

10/17/2021
We often judge ourselves based on our intentions, and others based on their behavior. One of the best practices in my life is constantly working to become aware of my internal stories and avoiding the trap of taking everything too personally. Listen to this episode to learn how I've been able to ask a very specific question in times of emotional discourse to be able to reverse the urge of thinking everyone is an asshole.
